It was only a matter of time. Two key figures in the Carolina Beach Music scene, David Hicks and Jim Quick, have teamed up to take over the Tailgate Oyster Bar, and word is the food and service are top-notch. As for the music, no surprise there—Band of Oz rocked the parking lot for a massive crowd of fans. The talented Melissa Hinson, star of O.D. Mafia, was on hand to capture some great shots.
The beach and horseshoe were decked out in red, white, and blue as friends and patriots of North Myrtle Beach, all proud Americans, gathered to celebrate the founding of the greatest nation. July 4th, 1776, remains one of the most important days in history, second only to the birth of Christ. Mayor Jay Baldwin and other officials took the stage to welcome the crowd, and the beautiful, talented Marlisa Kay Small opened the event with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem. The American Legion Honor Guard from Post 186 and representatives from VFW Post 10804 were present throughout the celebration.
VFW Post 10804 came together to celebrate the founding of America and its 250th anniversary with a grand dinner prepared by the Comrades and served by the Auxiliary. The guest speaker for the evening was none other than our first President, George Washington, who read the most important document in history, the Constitution of the United States of America. The event drew a large crowd, and the sense of brotherhood and friendship filled the banquet hall.
One thing’s for sure—you can never have Too Much Sylvia! The guys rocked it tonight at Music on Main. Hats off to the North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department for their stellar 2026 band lineup, with Too Much Sylvia right at the top. Rick, Steve, Eddy, and Don have been entertaining for years, not just because of their undeniable musical talent, but also because they’re genuinely great guys who love what they do. Be sure to catch Too Much Sylvia at a venue near you—you won’t regret it. Dan Summitt of O.D. Mafia captured the shots in album one, and album two, featuring photos by Dan and Dennis Woodard, will be posted soon.
The band Rivermist showcased their many talents at the Calabash Concert Series, while Melissa Hinson captured the fun, excitement, and smiles that they never fail to bring.
The Pink Slips Band brought their musical magic to Local on the Water, delivering a high-energy performance that had the crowd buzzing. This multi-talented group never fails to light up the room wherever they play.
The second photo album of the Swingin’ Medallions is up, one album couldn’t possibly capture all the fun and excitement this band brings. Staying true to their roots as a lively, energetic, and insanely talented party band, they had the huge crowd dancing nonstop on Main Street. To mark the anniversary of *Double Shot of My Baby’s Love*, they even debuted their own Double-Shot glass—a must-have for every Swingin’ Medallions fan. The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation Department really knocked it out of the park booking them.

If the Carolina Beach Music Academy gave Awards for the prettiest, most sincere smile, Karen Dehart Clayton would have one for every year of her life. Karen and the Castaways are truly one of O.D. Mafia’s favorites. This band has the musical talent and sound that delights their many fans plus, and it’s a big plus, the band members themselves are great individuals. They have a talent for lifting your spirits and Karen’s smile is contagious. Okay, I’ll admit it, I love this band!!!
This is the second of two albums from The Tonez, kicking off Thursday night’s Music on Main with an incredible performance. The band had their fans on their feet, dancing to the beat, as if the massive crowd’s hearts were in sync with the drum line Bradley laid down. The Tonez have set the bar high for Thursday nights. Photos by O.D. Mafia’s photographer Dan Summitt are now posted—check them out.
A milestone was celebrated as the Castaways turn 65 and what a birthday party. The beautiful and talented pride of O.D. Mafia was there to capture the fun and excitement to film.
Thank you Marlisa Kay Small for singing the National Anthem and God Bless America at the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Sports Center. The VFW, American Legion, and guests presented a solemn and respectful program that truly honored those that gave all.
This much beauty gathered in one location should be illegal. Three of the loveliest ladies I know met at Bridgewater for an evening of entertainment. The super-talented duo of Deb Browning and Marlisa Kay Small provided the magical melodies while O.D. Mafia’s very own angel of the evening, Melissa Hinson captured the memories to film.
Two of O.D. Mafia’s favorite venues, Hoto’s and Deckers along with two of my favorite DJ’s, Jim Quick and Ray Scott, Melissa was out and about and got pics of both.
The weather was perfect, the home and setting were amazing, and the people were wonderful as everyone gathered to celebrate the upcoming wedding of a truly beautiful and loving couple, Dennis and Karen.
