June 6th, 1944

Normandy, France – Project Overlord

The morning of June 6th, 1944 saw the largest Amphibious Operation of all time take place.  Almost 7,000 naval ships and more than 150,000 troops crossed the English Channel to free France (and Europe) from the stranglehold of Hitler’s Germany.  Allied casualties were over 10,000 although that number is only an estimate and casualties is believed to be much higher.  Four thousand four hundred and thirteen servicemen were lost.

WWII changed the world more than any event of the twentieth century.  It is unimaginable to think of what would have happened if Hitler had been allowed to continue his atrocities.

The Holiday Band was laying down the party time at 2001 Night Club.  Michael Jumper was dashing and flashing for ODMafia.  As you can see from the photos, everyone was having a great time.

Too Much Sylvia brought their craziness to Main Street and Duck’s Beach and Night Club.  It’s always too much fun when Too Much Sylvia is in town.  A boatload of talent, add equal parts fun, with a splash of mayhem and you’ve got a Too Much Sylvia performance.

ODMafia photographer and DJ Dan Summitt was at Deckerz Bar & Grill yesterday playing beach, country, and wayback rock to warm-up the crowd for the main event, Sea Cruz. Allie, Butch and the multi-talented Dino Fair rocked Deckerz with their own brand of beach, boogie, and blues. This band is about to go their separate ways, but like the Phoenix, I am expecting and hoping for a glorious rebirth. The Sea Cruz brand has been around too long to fade away. Dino, we have faith and confidence in you. Take a lesson from Nike, Just Do It!.

Next stop, Duck’s Sidewalk Café. This venue is quickly becoming a favorite of locals and tourists due to entertainers such as Ricky T. Ricky is a locals favorite, his inter-action with the crowd brings them back and attracts the newbies. It’s impossible not to have fun on the sidewalk in front of Duck’s Beach Club. Stop by and have a “Team Drink”, if you don’t have one it’s not Ricky T’s fault.

As we walked toward the ocean, past Beach Memories where we spoke with Zackary and petted Stowe, past International Café and Georgio’s where we stopped for the best pizza in North Myrtle Beach (stop by, tell them ODMafia sent you) we noticed that the temperature was steadily rising. As we neared the OD Beach Club it was obvious as to why. Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot was on stage with their high-octane,
energy packed performance. Recently replacing fossil fuel as the chief cause of global warming on the EPA’s most hazardous list Gary & Smokin’ Hot has taken the area by storm.

The Little River Blue Crab Festival is an annual event that takes place along the historic waterfront in scenic Little River South Carolina.  This was the 33rd year the event has been held.  ODMafia photographer Dan Summitt took a few photos while strolling and enjoying the sights, sounds and smells.

It was great to see ODMafia Photographer Harold Small out and about at Bike Week.  He took some great photos and they up!

Photos of the Swashtones performing at Deckerz Bar & Grill are posted and available for viewing and or downloading.  This was one heck of a parking lot party.  Thanks Deckerz!  The Fat Jack Duo kept the party going on the inside as they performed hit after hit.  This is truly a Dynamic Duo.  Great job.

Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot was the entertainment at Duck’s Beach & Night Club and they did not disappoint.  Their full-throttle, pedal to the metal performance was outstanding.  They kept the dance floor packed as well as the area in front of the stage.  It’s hard not to move when Curly White and Dan Thomas are solid and in the pocket!  DJ Paul Craver kept the intensity up between sets.  One of the best DJ’s anywhere!

Swashtones – Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot – Fat Jack Duo

The many visiting Harley’s furnished a low resonating bottom to the Swashtones as they performed at the Deckerz Parking Lot Party.  This new band played a mix of beach, country, rock and rhythm & blues that kept the lot full of bikes and golf carts.  They made for a fun-filled afternoon that turned into a fun-filled evening as the ever popular Fat Jack Duo cranked up the fun inside.  Levi and Will are regulars at Deckerz and lay down the Motown, R&B, and Rock hits that we love.  The dance floor always over flows when the Fat Jack Duo takes Stage.

Gary Lowder & Smokin Hot filled Duck’s Bar & Grill with fans, fun and fantasy as they pumped out hit after hit.  Multi-colored beams of light danced thru Duck’s to the full-bodied sound of the band.  Gary Lowder, Curly White, Dan Thomas, Don Colton,  J.K. Lofton, Keith Stone and Terry Nash blend their talents to form an unmistakable bouquet of sound unique to Smokin’ Hot.  Paul Craver manned the DJ booth and pumped out both classic and current hits.  Paul has an uncanny knack of knowing what to play and when to play it.  Photos are posted.

Marsha Morgan Band was rocking the ocean-front deck at Ocean Annie’s.  The temperature was warm and Marsha was hot.  This band plays it all! O D Mafia Photographer Dan Summitt was there to enjoy the show and take a few photos.

Moving from one ocean-front deck to another finds N-Tranze at Harold’s on the Ocean (HOTO’s).  Whether it’s disco, rhythm and blues or rock this band knows how to get funky.  Catch N-Tranze at a venue near you.  You’ll be glad you did.  Pics are up.

Ricky T, a locals favorite played outside at Duck’s Sidewalk Café.  This is always a fun place and Ricky T makes it more so.  Anytime you’re at the beach, join Ricky T for a “Team-Drink”!  Photos are posted.

Atlantic Groove was playing inside Duck’s Beach and Night Club to a very excited crowd.  The dance floor was packed as they played hit after hit.  DJ Paul Craver set the tone before the show and during the breaks.  Paul has a knack for knowing what you want to hear and when to play it.  Duck’s Beach & Night Club, Where the Party People Party.
